What file format are GarageBand tracks saved as?

Hey friends,

I have an m4a track that I'd like to upload to our podcast site (it's the audio from a recorded Zoom conversation). I want to add an intro to the conversation, so I recorded one in GarageBand and imported the existing m4a file into GarageBand as well, to make one track together.

Having saved that as one track in GarageBand, the podcast site doesn't recognize it for uploading. So I'm wondering:

  1. What file format are GarageBand tracks saved as?
  2. Can I save a GarageBand track as an m4a file?
  3. Is there a different Mac-friendly audio editing software that would allow me to add a separate voice recording on to an m4a file?

Thank you!

Garageband format.

I don't know that you can save m4a. You will have to find another program, like music (iTunes) to convert it.
