Can't connect headphones iPhone 12mini

I had an iPhone 6 phone, I connected Sony's headphones to it yesterday, I bought a new phone iPhone 12 miniI could not connect headphones via Bluetooth

Assuming these are Bluetooth headphones, have you put them in pairing mode per the manufacturers directions? They won't connect automatically, unless they are in pairing mode.

Or, are they paired with another device which is powered on and nearby? Most Bluetooth headphones cannot be paired with two devices at the same time.
