Removing photos from Imports folder

When I import photos, they go into the Imports folder. After I move them to a particular album, they're still in the Imports folder.

When I delete them from the Import folder, they disappear from the album where I've put them.

Question: How do I empty my Imports folder without deleting them from the album in which I have put them?

iMac 21.5″, macOS 11.4

Photos "Imports" Folder I think I have he answer to this but wanted to ask the group here. In transitioning to MacOS, I have been moving my photos from file storage to the Photos app and up to iCloud. In the process all pictures that I drop to a new album stay in Imports. Is there any way to remove them from imports or is that where they stay indefinitely since they were imported from a file? As I have already moved them to a album and just trying to reduce the redundancy but understand its purpose since these were all imported into Photos and not from a device or product. Please confirm I have this correct and understand that they will reside in this folder moving forward. Thanks

You don't, really. Imports is not a place, it's a list. It's a short cut to the recent imports that you have done, that's all. These are no duplicates, just another 'doorway' into the same library.
