i have just purchased a second hand iMac and need to recover the OS however the wireless keyboard won’t connect.. how do I recover this without using the command R function

iMac in macOS recovery but don’t have a wireless keyboard connected Heya guys! I have just bought a second hand IMac and the guy has done a complete wipe, which is fine but I’ve tried a wired keyboard to start it up and put it into Mac OS recovery but as it’s not a Mac keyboard it doesn’t seem to be booting the utilities menu up by pressing command ‘r’. The only alternative I have is a Mac wireless keyboard(oldish one) which I can’t connect with out Bluetooth function. Any ideas on how I can solve this without buying a new Mac keyboard? Or any other solutions as to why the wired keyboard might not be working? Thanks in advance!

Can't boot into macOS recovery mode I'm unable to boot into macOS recovery mode to reinstall macOS on my Intel based iMac. Using an Apple wireless keyboard and holding CMD-R while starting just ends up with a flashing file folder with a "?". Any ideas how to get this to work? Do I need a USB connected keyboard?

If you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable and try again. The cable turns it into a wired keyboard.

Borrow a wired keyboard to use. Incidentally, this is why I do not like wireless devices.
