I am getting tons of text spam in the group messages with a bunch of phone numbers I do not know and there is no report as junk option since its a group message. how to I stop this?

Assuming the group contains android phones you can’t even leave the group. All you can do is mute the group.
yep, the only thing I can do is delete it by swiping it left, on my list of convos, and trashing it but it comes back as soon as someone sends a new message.
