You are not alone, I have found this remedy to work for me until Apple pays more attention to their customers needs when it comes to missing album covers and misplaced music. I to have been on the phone to Apple Support and still waiting to hear from them on a fix for the Music App using Big Sur OS. I am tired of waiting and went ahead with a recommendation given some time ago and it could of saved me time had headaches. My library is 840,000 tracks and climbing. I know what I have in the library and mainly by viewing album covers.
Download the Retroactive 1.9 app for Big Sur. You'r music/movie album covers and tracks will be as they were before upgrading.
Is this for album photos or album covers such as in music album covers missing? Did you recently upgrade to cCatalina or Big Sir? While either using Catalina or Big Sir, you can revert back to iTunes original app. Apple Support has not worked for me so I fixed the album covers my self

im not looking about music album covers. I’m talking about albums in the photo app I have a lot of them missing

if you back up to iCloud, and you are still using an older version of iTunes, you should see your photos appear on the left side navigation of iTunes or in the Finder in the iCloud section?
Had to change phones but still got same SIM card and tel no- lost all my photos and albums, how can I retrieve them pls
