stolen iphone

my iphone has been stolen and apple has sent me a sms on my number, contains location link, but could not be found by find iphone app; nevertheless, it is a geographical coordinates and coordinates are never lost' so how can I find?

If it is a SMS I wouldn't trust it, it could be the thief trying to contact you which wouldn't be safe. Apple would show the location in Find My used on another device or in a browser.
