Mac OS Big Sur is laggy and sluggish Dear Community, I have been using MacOS Big Sur since it got released. It works fine overall, but it seems sluggish and animations are slow. Especially, the new widget/notification center area. I am using a 15 inch MBP and it has a dedicated GPU it should be working fine with it. I know originally (The OS) it's been designed to M1 MACs but since I intend to use my intel MAC for at least another 4 years, I don't give a flying about those macs. Is there any news about upcoming system updates in the near future? Thanks, David

macOS Big Sur very laggy, sluggish and slow! Hello guys, since updating my MacBook Pro 13" 2016 to macOS Big Sur, I have been noticing a sluggish and laggy performance overall! I saw, that a lot of users have posted similar issues, but the suggested solutions there did not help at all! Whether running a program, switching on the mac or even watching YouTube in 4K+ resolution is the performance horrible! I cannot even load a 4K Video on YouTube without having it lagging hundreds of times. I have a good internet connection and on other devices on the same network things run just fine, even with 8K resolution! Running a program needs a long time!! Version 11.2+ did not bring any noticeable performance improvements! Is there any possible solution other than resetting the mac, reverting to Catalina or reinstalling the system?! Is macOS Big Sur a buggy performance disaster? Thanks all!

Everything moves slower since I upgraded to Big Sur Anyone else having issues with Big Sur and Adobe Lightroom? Everything moves slower since I upgraded and often using LR my desktop with 24GB RAM freezes, flashes red, and eventually shuts down. Actually it isn't only LR that is an issue, sometimes my desktop unit doesn't recognize my wireless mouse or even my wired keyboard. [Re-Titled by Moderator]

Startup in Safe Mode. https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201262

Select your account and login.

Test.

Log out of your account.

To leave Safe Mode, click Apple logo  in the menu bar and choose “Restart”.

If you find your Mac is running slowly, there are a number of potential causes that you can check.

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/Anti-Virus/VPN
