pages copy bookmarks

I have a document in Pages with bookmarks.

If I copy-paste the complete document (select section, all pages) to another document, the bookmarks are lost/ How can I copy-paste an document with bookmarks from one document to another document?

Rather than copy/paste the entire document to another document, why not just duplicate the current document outside of Pages in the Finder. That should preserve all internal Pages bookmark references in the new document.
