System Preference

I have created a new user and afterwards delete the user. It seems System Preferences are struggling to delete the user and now I am not able to quit system preferences. It keeps on giving me the following message: Users & Groups preferences is removing a user account and saving the Home directory to a disk image.

Please assist, how can I proceed?
