Hide email option

This is for someone elses phone; my friend got the iPhone 12 Pro Max like I did but when he clicks on his Apple ID his old phone shows up at the bottom under his Apple ID along with the new phone. also he has no option to hide his email under “Name, Phone Numbers, Email” what may be going on and what should he do? Should he and can he just delete where it says iPhone 6 Plus and remove the old phone from the bottom and why is there no option for him to hide his email?
