How can I remove and save the audio from a Quicktime movie?
Is there a way to extract the audio track from a QuickTime movie and save the audio track as an independent audio piece?

Wow! Thank you both.
I have stepped into a computer entanglement!:
"free VLC media player" -- I don't have such. I did at one time have a vlc app but it was screwing up my internet processing, so I trashed it. It was not labelled as a "player". So I don't know where or anything about a free VLC media player (I'll check Google).
"passthrough as the codec and to a container format" -- is that english? -- ok, computer English.
But it exceeds my ability to translate.
Thank you both for your help!
But I will have to work on it.
From Google, I found and have dl'd Avast Security.
I am hoping that is what you referred to. It seems to have installed Chrome on myMBP.
So next I'll start from there and try to "export the file, using passthrough as the codec and to a container format that supports the type of audio component in the movie".
Does the fact that all the movies I am trying to extract audio from play on Mac's QuickTime?
Out of interest did you try opening the video in Quicktime Player and do
File, Export as, Audio only?
It appears you prefer to go a more complex route for some reason.
Thank goodness you deleted or atr going to delete Avast!!
Security snd cleaner apps have NO PLACE on any Apple hardware.
I didn't see your post in time.
I found an uninstall for Avast in Google, followed it and as of now it seems to be gone.
I will do some checking via "Find Any File".
According to "Delete Apps", it is gone.

YOUR POST SOLVED MY INITIAL QUESTION!!!!!
I always use the "export as" - " audio only" option. Hasn't failed yet.

If I was dong this I'd use the free VLC media player to export the file, using passthrough as the codec and to a container format that supports the type of audio component in the movie.
Maybe you remember VPN rather than VLC if it messed up your internet
I don’t have the technical knowledge that Limnos has but I can use a QuickTime menu
No I did not try going from Quicktime Player to export audio only!
I did not know I could do that!
And,yes the previous suggestions are far more complex and I would like to delete Avasti!
Great news.
