No red trash button on Apple Watch to delete apps

How do I delete apps on my Apple Watch? I tried to delete apps by swiping left on apps in the grid list, however no trash icon pops up. I have to create space to upload an update.

Thanks for your help.

Try this;

Unpair your Apple Watch via the Watch app on your iPhone.

Then Re-pair your Apple Watch again,this usually frees up

enough storage space to update your watch.And without any loss of data.
