Airpods require your Mac to be running the latest version of macOS, and be among the following Mac models, that you can review by reading the compatibility section of the Airpods 2nd generation tech specs.

If your operating system and Mac meet the compatibility requirements, then it is a simple Bluetooth pairing process.
