In Apple Mail on Macbook Pro, the content of emails from my linked gmail account seem to be taking longer and longer to load. The headers appear reasonably quickly but once I click to open the message it has no content. I have to leave the message open and come back to it later to find the content (body) of the email.
Has anyone else come across this and have a solution ?

Thanks but that didn't help at all. It's still terribly slow loading any gmail messages. I think I'm going to have to give up on using Mail to access non Apple mailboxes. Everyone else's email client just works with gmail, but not Apple Mail. I suspect I could write my own app faster.
I found a solution that fixed it for me
1. Log into Gmail account.
2. Go to Settings (Gear symbol(top right) -> Labels.
3. Uncheck all Show in IMAP boxes.
