Restore iTunes library from external hard drive

Hi, I am going through the process of transferring my iTunes library from Windows to a new MacBook. I have consolidated the library and exported it to an external hard drive. Can anyone explain how I import the library from the hard drive into iTunes on the MacBook please ? I have transferred the data onto the MacBook from the drive, so there is a 'iTunes Media' file on the home screen.
