What causes overheating? Fan coming on often, keys are hot, Battery says its fine?

Lots of causes:


  • Blocking the hinge area and other places that allow air to be taken in and exhausted for cooling. Using the computer on a blanket or pillow is a sure way to block the air vents.
  • Running useless anti-virus or so-called "cleaming" apps will run up tems[
  • Streaming video and video conferencing is not light-duty.
  • Google Chrome uses more than its share of resources and will run up temps
  • Poorly-designed cases and, in general, keyboard covers
