Use my credit card for family sharing

Question

My son-in-law added me to his family sharing. When I try to make a purchase, it tries to use his credit card. How do I change it to mine?

You can't. Only the organizer's credit card can be used.

Buy/redeem Apple Gift cards to the account. Charges will be deducted from the account balance before the organizer's credit card is charged.

I purchased a gift card and it is showing as a payment method but it is still trying to use my son-in-law’s credit card.

Did you redeem the card? Does the cost of the purchase plus taxes exceed the amount of credit on your Apple ID?
