Your new iPad Air4 is suppled with a USB-C to USB-C cable.
If your computer has USB Type-A ports, this being the more commonly used standard for older devices, you’ll require a USB-C to USB3 Type-A cable. These are readily available from good computer stores.
Apple directly market two suitable cables from Mophie:

As you are likely aware, direct connection permits full synchronisation of data and all media files from your iTunes Music Library - the latter not being possible via iCloud.

Hi susanl1950,
While you can purchase and use this cord, https://www.apple.com/shop/product/HN892ZM/A/mophie-usb-a-cable-with-usb-c-connector-1-m?fnode=11c6146438eed90abcb43ec8f38c4d0a7dbe8483a6dd8e2029f822a1e08ea8ea52a224e3a9130942b7aac4a87e007127861e491fb9b14015c81c74ed818908f9dca411b825a4a2a40ee1c5bc8011d8c090aec352e1c2f3363520d2d06d5dca7b, the better way is to use iCloud. You can learn about iCloud here: Set up iCloud on all your devices - Apple Support.
Cheers,
Jack
