Hooking up external monitors

Hi,

I recently got myself the new Macbook 13" M1 256 GB storage and 8 GB RAM. I have 2 external monitors and when I try to hook them up to my mac using the 2 display ports on the left, only 1 monitor seems to be working at a time. It doesn't seem to be an issue with monitor compatibility as when I take out either of the HDMI cables, the other one works but not 2 at the same time. What am I doing wrong? Please guide me!

Read the Tech Specs for your computer:

"Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display at millions of colors and:

  • One external display with up to 6K resolution at 60Hz"
