I keep trying to have my iPad backup! But keep getting messages that it is not backed up. I have it plugged in, my WIFI is functioning and I have the screen turned off. What am I doing wrong? Why will it not be backed up?

I can’t get the iPad to Back-up! Even though I believe I have done all of the required steps to do so.
