Trouble installing Mac Big Sur

How can I get past error “an error occurred applying the software update” on my Mac after attempt to install Big Sur?

Big Sur states that you will need 35.5 GB of free storage when upgrading from High Sierra or newer, and 44.5 GB when upgrading from an older versions.


Big Sur macOS 11.2

If you have downloaded the full installer and you are having an issue, reboot into safeboot mode than launch the installer from a Safe boot mode.


The installer can be found in your /Applications/"Install macOS Big Sur.app"
