Replacing MacBook Pro SSD, not recognized

I am trying to upgrade the internal SSD hard drive on my 2013 15” MacBook Pro Retina and it is not recognized by Internet Recovery.

I purchased a 1Tb SSD from “Other World Computing” and backed up my existing 256 Gb SSD using Time Machine.

After replacing the SSD with the new one I have tried internet recovery (option-command-R) multiple times. I keep getting an error message like “apple.com/support -5101F” or similar (the numeric code changes, -2100F, -2003F, etc)

I have tried “shift-option-command-R” which allows me to use Disk Utility but Disk Utility does not indicate any presence of the new 1TB SSD. It shows my 2 Tb Time Machine USB device and a very small “disk 0” but nothing else.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Hi,

Resetting NVRAM could solve the issue.

If it doesn't help, you'd better contact OWC support.
