Sorry -- just to be clear, I did go to the "How to get old versions of macOS" and clicked on Mohave and in Safari got to the Mohave page and clicked download. At that point I was informed it is not available.
I am assuming that because my iMac is 2011 that despite the new HD in 2018 that upgrades to Mohave and later are not available.
I go to the "How to get old versions of macOS and click on Mohave. It opens itunes and then opens a statement that this is not available in the US store.
My iMac is 2011, but I had a new hardrive installed January 2018 and thought that would do it, but it looks like not.
Correct. The specific missing component is a Metal-capable graphics card.
