My iPad only lets me update it until iOS 12.5.1 and I can’t download anything from the App Store for that same reason

If you have an iPad Air as reflected in your profile and you can only update to iOS 12.5.1, that would indicate that you have an iPad Air first generation. It is a 7 year old device and is not capable of running an iOS higher than 12.5.1. If you need an app that requires a newer iOS, you will need to purchase a newer iPad.
