Changed my Apple id email address, now I cannot sign into iMessage.

I changed my primary email account and I don't think I enabled iMessage when I added it. Now I cannot sign into iMessage on my Macbook. Going back to iPhone soon, so how to I correct this?

What happens when you try? Error message(s)?

Messages – Can’t log in.       


Messages – Can’t log in 2.    


Messages - If you can‘t sign in to your iMessage account or FaceTime on your Mac.
