Remove bookmark column from screen

I have a newer iPad Pro and want to get rid of the bookmarks column that takes up too much of my screen

(And I don’t see a blue icon that everyone is talking about clicking on)

Here are screenshots from my iPad - first one is the side bar is showing - you see the blue square?

Hit that square and the sidebar should disappear and the blue square is gone:
