After being locked out due to a reset business phone number I am told that my request (on December 15, 2020) will be addressed on December 29, 2020 at 9:36:14 AM... How can it be that Apple’s customer service is so much worse than literally every other company?

I'm extremely disappointed and wish I had bought a Surface Pro instead.

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.

If you want to, you can send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem or a suggestion for change. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem/suggested change solved sooner. Pick the closest topic you can find.

The Recovery Process is an automated process and the length of time it takes can vary a lot. Apple ID Support can only answer your questions. They can't intervene in or speed up the process. The article below has some suggestions to shorten the the time the process takes.

Apple ID - Recover your Apple ID with two-factor authentication account recovery.

The only way to reset it instantly is to remember the password and sign into your Apple ID.
