How do I get it turned on so I have access to the CD's I already own/loaded for Slideshow music?
See Turn on Sync Library with Apple Music - Apple Support. Not quite sure where you're going with the slideshow music question, but Apple Music content (as distinct from your matched/uploaded tracks) cannot be used in third party applications, nor can anything that is currently in the cloud.
