IPad and iCloud Storages

My iPad storage is full. I thought by getting more storage for iCloud would increase the storage on my iPad. The storage on my iCloud unchanged but the storage on my iPad is full. I want to keep my photos and videos. I want to delete them from the iPad but I don’t want them deleted from iCloud. Is there a way to keep my videos and photos without permanently deleting them.
