Email problems

I have Suddenlink as my internet provider. I can not send an email from my iMac computer. Has anyone had this problem?

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.12

the smtp server ports varies from mail provider to mail provider, that port needs to be allowed in your computers firewall, your wifi router and by your isp
