How to retrieve deleted messages on iPhone?

If you have activated iCloud Messages they are gone and you cannot retrieve them.

If you didn't and they are in your backup you can restore your iPhone from that backup -> Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup - Apple Support you will lose any data added since the date/time of that backup.

If you were using iCloud messages, you cannot. If you weren't, then you can restore the phone to a backup that was made when the message was on the device. Remember, that restoring to a backup will delete everything done since that backup. No backup, no recovery.
