Please, please, PLEASE tell me that Apple will re-institute Calculator as a sidescreen widget in Big Sur. I've been using it for more than a decade, and now its gone (but still in app form). This has immediately and negatively impacted my productivity.

I dunno. It might seem like only one extra click, but its so much more than that when you’re working in full-screen mode and any break in concentration costs you more than just time. Reason or no reason, it ***.
Apple removed it for a reason, however inconvenient that has now become. Now you get to adapt, and drag/drop the Calculator application to your Dock, or access it from the Launchpad's first screen in Big Sur. In either case, it will be a single-click. Simple math can even be done in the Spotlight panel.
Bring calculator widget back (For the love of God!)
