My Mac won't update.

I'm trying to update my 2014 MacBook Pro to either the newest version of Catalina or Big Sur. I just purchased more storage to do this, but nothing happens when I click update on Catalina, and it says "Update not available" when I try to download Big sur.

Update only applies recent fixes for the current major version. It sounds like there aren't any more.

To UGRADE, you need to use a process much more like a new Purchase. Luckily, on sale to many Mac owners for $0.

Be sure you have a Trusted disk-based Backup (and a good strong seatbelt) before you begin.
