Can you share a calendar using family sharing?

What happened was we turned on Family Sharing and while the Family calendar showed up on the organizer's ipad and sharing was turned on, the Family calendar never turned up on my ipad like it was supposed to. Specifically sharing it from the organizer's ipad like any other calendar worked. It was relying on 'Family Sharing' to do the work was the problem.
