my music disappeared from my iTunes library

I had thousands of songs ripped from my CD collection loaded into my iTunes. Today they are all gone. How can I get them back? They songs still appear on my iPhone, but for how long?

Same problem. Macbook Pro 2020, Catalina 10.15.7

I spent weeks ripping my personal CD collection into my iTunes library a couple years ago. 100% gone, except for one piano solo I'd created myself and stored on iTunes. If I try to sync my full ipod with my Macbook iTunes acct to get the music back in my library, will it actually load the music INTO my library, or will it sync my EMPTY itunes library onto my ipod (erasing everything that's on my ipod instead)??
