Can you use an old iphone charger and cable with the new iphone 12?

I have just purchased an iphone 12 max pro, but realised it doesn't come with a plug for this "new style" small usb cable.

The last iphone I purchased was a 7plus, which used the old USB cable (not the new mini one). Can I charge my new the iphone12 pro max, with the same plug and cable I used for my 7plus? It would help me save myself money, seeing as I just spent £1200 on the phone!
