Whenever new update is available, after download and extraction my IPhone fails to update through itunes andI get error code 4000. I have updated version of itunes. How to set this right. Is there any trouble shooter?

Thanks for your suggestion had to update by WiFi today and remember to disable passcode next time.
Itunes for windows just got updated to (.10) without a fix but we hope it will be fixed in the next update (.11) but we don't have enough access to Apple.
