My iPhone x won't connect to any network. In settings it says I am connected to a wifi network but it does not show the wifi icon in the top right corner.

Is Cellular Enabled?
Cellular will overrule Wi-Fi, if and while enabled. So, disable cellular data. See if you can then connect.
