The Apple TV app on Macs can be used for
- iTunes Store movies and TV shows (buy or rent);
- Apple TV+ channel featuring Apple Originals, by subscription;
- other premium Apple TV app Channels, each by subscription;
- Local media files;
- Home Sharing to/from other local computers.
That excludes any content from a TV provider. But you may be able to access their content through the web?
Apps from third party content providers for iPhone/iPad/Apple TV box are generally not available on Macs.
