Last week the latest IOS was automatically install on my MacBook Pro and when I opened it this morning, all of my stored files which were located on my desktop are gone. When I go into Word or Excel, I can find only older versions of the documents that I used constantly which is why they were stored on the desktop. WHERE can I find them???

No, Bob, I did not enable the iCloud on this particular device, it is only used for my work. However, I worked with Apple Service and that is where we found the the lost files and documents. All but 2 Excel documents which apparently did not migrate or were damaged in the transition. It appears that I will have to recreate both of these lost documents, which will be a lot of work! Thanks for the help!
Did you enable iCloud when you upgraded? If so, look in your iCloud drive for your documents.
Nice clean desktop but where are my files now???
