I can't update my Watch because I'm told the update needs 2.2 GB and I should delete apps to make space. I have no apps installed, and the worst space usage is 123 MB by Activity. So what do I do?z

Try unpairing and pairing your watch again and restoring from the backup. This deletes all temp and corrupted files and re-indexes the file system. This helps free a lot of space. Unpair and erase your Apple Watch - Apple Support Good luck

Apple Support came to the same conclusion. One can only hope they fix this. iOS had this problem too, once, but they fixed it there.
