Late 13" MacBook Pro - Cable for Connecting to Monitor

Hi, I've just purchased a USB-C QHD 75Hz External Monitor for my late 2016 13"MacBook Pro.

As it's a USB-C monitor, I assumed that I could connect my MacBook to the monitor with just a USB-C to USB-C cable. But the monitor doesn't seem to be connecting- "No Connection"

I've tried the normal troubleshooting. Is the problem that my computer can't connect via USB-C. Do I need to purchase an adaptor? Should I get either the Displayport to USBC or HDMI to USBC?

Would be very grateful for help as my new monitor is just a brick at the moment.

You should be able to connect with a USB-C cable. Make sure you’re not using the charge cable that came with your Mac, that does not carry data.
