I was reluctant to install Catalina OS on my computer. I finally had to install it to run certain apps, not available otherwise. I find myself having problems finding some features from the previous Mojave OS. I cannot find Dashboard and its widgets. Where did it go?

Dashboard and its widgets are gone in Catalina. Apple has created new Notification center tools that you can enable in System Preferences : Extensions : Today panel. Here is an example of the weather tool as it appears in the Notification Center's Today panel:
The Dashboard was removed from Catalina. The only widgets are now in the Notification Center.
