Lack of disk space

My mac states I lack disc space, and I’m not able to do any updates. Can’t open any files, or pictures. Trying to open safari and won’t open. Any suggestions? I am not tech savvy at all! 😔

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.13

I would get an external drive and move data from the main drive to it.

Thank you fir the response I did get a WD easy store but unfortunately haven’t been able to figure out how to export to the drive. 😔

Make sure the drive is formatted for your Mac. Third party drives often come formatted for Windows. After formatting, you can drag and drop folders/files to the drive.
