Pairing Apple Watch to iPhone

I’ve been trying to pair my Apple Watch to my iPhone but it keeps saying to update my phone, however my phone is already upto date??? Help!

if you have an apple watch with watchOS6 then it can only pair with iphones with ios13 if your iphone is iphone6 or older it does not support ios13
