Playlists

I can't remember how to display both my artists and a playlist to easily drop and drag new songs to the playlist.

There are various methods. Your Playlists are shown in the Sidebar, so make sure it is displayed; if it isn't, click on View/Show Sidebar.

  1. using the Artists view:
    1. click on Library/Artists (also in the sidebar) so that the artists are displayed in the main window
    2. find the artist in the main window, and then identify the album and song under the artist you want. Drag your chosen song to the Playlist
  2. using the Songs view:
    1. click on Songs in the sidebar so that all the songs are displayed in the main window
    2. to display the artists, make sure you have the column browser displayed (View/Column Browser/Shown Column Browser) and that it displays the artists (View/Column Browser>Artists (click to select it)
    3. select the artist from the column browser and then the album and song
    4. drag the song to the Playlist
  3. (this one may not suit you) - right-click a song on the pop-up context menu, hover your mouse over the Add to Playlist option. The Playlists will then be shown to the right in another pop-up menu. Simply select the Playlist of your choice and that's it

This is of course, the steps required to add songs to Regular Playlists. Smart Playlists are another matter altogether. If you require advice on Smart Playlists, please ask.
