Software Update won't begin after restarting several times

I've restarted my MacBook Pro several times now, as instructed, to begin software update, and it won't update. How do I fix this?

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.15

Download the standalone & try installing in Safe mode...

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup).

Yes, I needed to clear up downloads from my computer and free up memory. All set now. Thanks!
