iPad not keeping a charge

My 2018 iPad keeps on crashing and needs to be charged even though it’s not out of charge. When I connect to power it will come back on showing there’s charge left . It won’t do it if it’s constantly connected and charging. Do I need a new battery?

IPad crashes, plenty battery left. Twice now my iPad Air 2 has crashed when there was 35% battery left. I plugged in with the same cable I use all the time and it showed connected, but didn’t charge. On a lark, I tried a different cable and it booted up and is charging. What the heck is going on?

iPad crashing My apple iPad crashes regularly while it had adequate charge ie. above 50%. It goes to a totally black screen. After plugging in it shows empty battery at first, but begins charging from the level it was previously at. What is this problem?
