Photos from iCloud

I recently tried to make some space on my hard drive as my photo libarary was taking up too much space and thereofore I activated the iCloud photo option to utilise the cloud instead. All photos were already in the cloud and visible on my iphone and when signed into icloud through the web.

Having checked the icloud option the photos remained on my hardrive and therefore I manually deleted the contents of the iphoto lirbarary. I am now unable to link the icloud to photos and although I have tried checking the icloud option in system preferences it doesn't link to icloud and display the photos.

Can you suggest anything else I can try?

Welcome to the Apple community.

I'm not sure whether you are asking about recovering photos because all your photos have been deleted from everywhere, or whether you are having difficulty enabling iCloud photos on your Mac.

If you have enabled iCloud photos on your photo library and then deleted photos from it, you will have deleted photos everywhere, since this is the purpose of iCloud photos.

If you have only just deleted the photos, you should be able to find them again in the recently deleted Photos album.

In system preferences > Apple ID icon > iCloud if you double clicked the box of photos to uncheck it , it will prompt to enter admin password .

The other location is photo preferences > the settings will get unchecked .

Check the first box of iCloud photos https://support.apple.com/guide/photos/from-icloud-photos-phtf5e48489c/mac
